Why Volunteer with NEYCW?

Volunteer Opportunities

1. Event Support Volunteers

Help organize and run NEYCW workshops, cultural celebrations, and youth forums. Tasks include:

  • Setting up venues and managing registrations

  • Assisting with event promotions and outreach

  • Facilitating activities and engaging with participants

2. Mentorship Volunteers

Guide and inspire newcomer youth through:

  • One-on-one mentorship (career, education, or personal growth)

  • Leading small group discussions or skill-building sessions

  • Sharing your own settlement experiences and advice

3. Outreach & Communications Volunteers

Spread the word about NEYCW’s work by:

  • Creating social media content or blog posts

  • Designing posters/flyers (graphic design skills welcome!)

  • Representing NEYCW at community fairs or school visits

4. Research & Advocacy Volunteers

Contribute to projects that shape policies for newcomer youth:

  • Conducting surveys or interviews

  • Helping prepare reports and presentations

  • Participating in meetings with community partners

5. Language Support Volunteers

Assist youth and families with:

  • Translation (written or verbal) for events/resources

  • ESL conversation practice sessions

  • Helping newcomers navigate local services

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be 18+ years old (youth under 18 may apply for specific roles)

  • Passion for supporting newcomers and cultural diversity

  • Commitment of at least 3–5 hours per month (flexible schedules)

  • Police check required for roles working directly with youth
